The challenge on Energy
A
Rank your electric appliances
To be able to make changes it is important to be aware of your current situation. Part A of the challenge is therefore about measuring your electric appliances at home. We have provided a list with common appliances below (excel sheet). Invest in a power meter and measure your electric appliances and fill in the result in the form. Send an e-mail to Tove with the “top three list” of the three appliances consuming most energy in your home.

If you want to buy a monitor online, here is one supplier selling it:

B
Test tips on heating/cooling, water, insulation and electric appliances

You have been provided with a number of tips on efficient use of heating/cooling, water, insulation as well as electric appliances. Test at least seven of these tips and make a summary of your experience which will be published on the blog. Which tips are working in your household, which are not working? Why?

One of the tips include buying a thermal leak detector, which you for example can do here:
>> Thermal Leak Detector

C
Change to Green Power (this is an additional optional challenge)
Green power is environmentally friendly electricity that is generated from renewable energy sources such as wind and the sun. Contact your supplier of electricity to see whether it is possible to change to Green Power if you don’t already have it.

EPA has a useful Green Power Locator:
