My desire to sign onto this project stems from a passion for preserving the only Earth we have. I began my quest of going green several years ago while I was teaching in Shanghai, China. While I was there I had the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the real importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling and the dramatic impact it can have not only on a global scale but for individuals as well. By participating in this project I hope to learn more ways in which I can reduce my carbon footprint in the world and inspire others to do the same.
About me
I was born in Curitiba, Brazil but have been raised in the Unites States for the majority of my life. My mother’s family is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where we vacation every other year while my father’s side of the family is scattered in and around the Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania areas. My brother lives in Belgium with his beautiful wife and two fabulous kids, and my sister lives in Maryland with her fantastic husband.
I have been a teacher for the past nine years working in a variety of local private schools in the Northern Virginia area including one year spent teaching abroad in Shanghai, China. I am currently employed at The Congressional Schools of Virginia located in Falls Church where I have been a second grade teacher for the past two years. I will serve as the Science Department Chair for grades 1-4 as well as the Junior Varsity soccer coach for the 5th and 6th grade girls’ team this next school year.
I have a very close relationship with my family and friends and can be found most weekends spending quality time with them, enjoying life and diving into new and unexpected adventures.
Spare time
In my free time I enjoy cooking, visiting local Virginia Vineyards, and traveling abroad. Most recently I spent nine days in the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai located in the United Arab of Emirates where I enjoyed feasting on local Middle Eastern cuisine and soaking in the sun on the beautiful beaches of the Arabian Peninsula. This summer I will travel to Brussels, the Netherlands, and Sweden for vacation, visiting Kalmar, Sweden along the way. I am fluent in three languages; English, Portuguese and Spanish which helps during my travels and have a passion for learning new languages.
